The Truancy Intervention Project hosts three special events for children and families involved in the program.

Holiday Adoption

A TIP sibling catches the holiday spirit.
The Holiday Adoption Program takes place each December to help indigent families involved with TIP enjoy a brighter holiday. Every TIP child and his or her siblings are eligible to be "adopted" by Atlanta law firm employees and others in the community who purchase gifts from wish lists created by the children and their parents. Fulfilling every wish from blue fingernail polish to bicycles, the children are also sure to find school supplies among their gifts.

Winners for Life

Baseball legend, Hank Aaron addresses the crowd
Winners For Life is a June event, designed to reward students in the Truancy Intervention Project for good attendance, conduct and grades. As part of a semester-long incentive program, the children are notified at the beginning of the spring semester that they have an opportunity to win tickets to an area amusement park or local sporting event if they miss fewer than five days during the spring semester.

After enjoying a private tour of the Atlanta ballpark, Turner Field, and a picnic lunch, the children have, for the past five years, been treated to inspirational comments by baseball legend, Hank Aaron. The volunteers join in on the afternoon of deserved pats on the back, relishing the children's accomplishments and their crucial role in the newfound success of the students they have helped.

Back to School Kickoff
The Back to School Kickoff is held at the beginning of the school year to encourage good attendance and success in school. All of the children, their families and volunteers come together at this event to support each other's success in the upcoming school year.

The children and their families enjoy the company of the other families and volunteers while eating a picnic lunch at Grant Park. Afterwards, the children are given school supplies to ensure that they start off the school year with the items they need. After receiving the school supplies, the families end the Kickoff with a trip through Zoo Atlanta.
